BlackBerry Priv Review and Car Mount Phone Holders

If you’re a loyal BlackBerry fan, you’ve probably taken your fair share of criticism from both iPhone and Android users. But, it you’re a BlackBerry fan, you’ve also let those criticisms gently slide off your shoulders and have defended the brand to the end. After all, we can credit BlackBerry for bringing the modern conveniences we enjoy most that make our phones smart to begin with, like email, text and internet. Up until now, BlackBerry’s pride and joy was it’s OS – vowing not to conform and to differentiate itself from Android and iOS. Well, it seems those days are over. BlackBerry’s newest flagship smartphone, the BlackBerry Priv, has joined the Android ranks. Despite not being able to hold it’s own in a two-OS world, the BlackBerry Priv kept its other signature trademark – a QWERTY hardware keyboard, which conveniently slides out from beneath a 5.4 inch, curved AMOLED touchscreen display, alive.

While the BlackBerry Priv is still not your typical Android smartphone, it looks great on the outside – and very BlackBerry. BlackBerry conveniently placed speakers at both the front and bottom of the device. A smart advantage for us podcast and music listeners who still want to see our notifications coming in. The Priv also comes standard with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and a MicroSD slot for expandable memory, up to 200 GB. Thanks, BlackBerry! The Priv also features an 18 MP, image-stabilized, front-facing camera. While that’s an improvement from the Classic’s 8 MP camera, some sources say the camera is rather slow to shoot.

So, what about the software? While BlackBerry made modifications and additions to the Android software that may or may not delight, they have allowed you to turn these features off and use the device as you would any other Android device. A unique and convenient new addition to the OS is the ability to swipe up from each icon on the home screen for a pop-up widget to appear with additional options – a great space and time-saving effort. BlackBerry has also added the ability to group all your notifications together in a handy message hub.

Only time will tell if the BlackBerry Priv Android excursion will “save” the BlackBerry brand and allow them to continue in the competitive handheld market.
