Sons of Speed YouTuber, Brendan wanted a race car made for the track. The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport was the perfect fit. What makes this C7 Corvette so unique? First launched at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, his Collector’s Edition Corvette is #865 of 935 ever made and only 1 of 200 with a manual transmission.
Why did Brendan choose the C7 Grand Sport vs Z06? The Grand Sport looks the part with heritage graphics, a Z06-style grille and wider rear fenders. Normal Grand Sport’s lacking the supercharger run less expensive compared to the Z06. But his Collector’s Edition 3LT Trim makes up the difference with luxury comforts. The C7 Grand Sport can still pack a punch with a 460 horsepower 6.2L V8 engine and 7-speed manual transmission.
Track racing since 2006, Brendan graduated from the 7th Generation Corvette Owner’s School at Spring Mountain Motorsports. A discounted program offered by GM to new Corvette owners, certified driving experts teach students how to unleash their Corvette’s true performance capabilities on the track.
Brendan took the ProClip team for a ride at the local Madison Speedway. He got the C7 Grand Sport up to 95MPH on the paved half mile oval short track. Watch the Corvette’s POV Built-in PDR to see the official track day data logs.
Corvette C7 Grand Sport Mods
Brendan’s Grand Sport mod list is modest, short and sweet. The upgrades include Corsa X-Pipe Exhaust, Stage 2 Front and Rear Aero Kit, BC Forged 18″ wheels, Nitto NT01 tires (315 up front instead of 285 stock/335 rear same as stock) Dual Roof Package Glass/Standard, Attack Blue Air Filter and Tension Blue badging.
All Collector’s Edition models require the top-level 3LT Trim which includes: NAPA Leather Seats, interior hash marks, Grand Sport sill plates and a special plaque with your car’s unique number. The interior also features an original Grand Sport Corvette race car embossed into the headrests and floor mats.
Chevy Corvette Phone Mount
A ProClip customer since 2014, Brendan likes to keep his iPhone mounted when using track apps. The custom Chevy Corvette Phone Mount clips neatly onto the Grip Assist Handle. This location keeps his smartphone in a convenient location when logging race data that’s not in the way of the manual shifter.
