The long-awaited RED Hydrogen One phone was sent out to select users for testing, but the rest of us will have to wait until October to get our hands on it. Toyota recalled nearly 200,000 Prius vehicles due to short circuit risks, and Ford recalled nearly 2 million F-150 trucks because the seat belt could cause fires to start! Oh, and Elon Musk is still making headlines.

Now let’s jump into the stories that mattered this week.

It’s iPhone Season!

Apple hosted their ‘Gather Round’ event while we gathered around the TV anxiously waiting to hear about the newest Apple devices. Apple unveiled three brand new iPhones: the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. The iPhone XS is the same size as the previous iPhone X, but features the new A12 Bionic chip, an upgraded camera and other incremental updates. The iPhone XS Max is the largest iPhone ever with a 6.5-inch OLED display. Finally comes the slightly more budget-friendly option, the iPhone XR. Priced $250 less than the iPhone XS, this phone also has the A12 Bionic chip, has a slightly larger screen than the XS, but has a lower resolution. The iPhone XR also only has one rear-facing camera while the XS and XS Max each have two.

ProClip has custom holders available today for the iPhone XS. Custom holders for the iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR will be coming soon. Sign up to be notified as soon as they are available. If you plan to use a phone case on your new iPhone, we have adjustable holders available today!

Apple also unveiled the Apple Watch Series 4. The new version of the Apple Watch features several impressive updates including an FDA-approved ECG test which can send accurate health information to your doctor.

5G Mania

The arms-race for 5G connectivity is heating up as Verizon has announced a 5G broadband home internet service starting October 1, 2018. The service will launch in Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento. Subscribers will see download speeds between 300Mbps up to peak speeds of 1Gbps. It will cost current Verizon customers $50 per month, but will cost non-Verizon customers $70 per month.

A Self-Driving Motorcycle

A division of BMW has released a video of a motorcycle driving around a racetrack by itself. The company said they do not have plans to sell self-driving motorcycles, but to use the technology to improve safety features on their current and future lineup of bikes.
