Apple Announces Brand New iPhone 11 Lineup
Apple has officially announced their newest lineup of iPhones: the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Additional announcements included updates to the iPad, Apple Watch and the upcoming services Apple Arcade and Apple TV+.
The iPhone 11
The iPhone XR was the most popular iPhone in the world over the past year, so it’s no surprise that the successor to the XR receives the traditional name of iPhone 11. The iPhone 11 is almost identical in design to the iPhone XR but it now sports a dual rear camera with the addition of an ultra-wide lens. The updated camera system is definitely the biggest takeaway from the event, featuring improvements to portrait mode, a night mode to compete with Google’s incredible Night Sight and video improvements including support for 4K video up to 60 fps. The front-facing camera also receives an update and can film in slow motion. Inside you’ll find Apple’s brand-new A13 Bionic processor which is of course, the fastest CPU and GPU ever in a phone. The A13 Bionic allows for incredible graphics, reduced power usage and battery life that beats the iPhone XR by an hour. The iPhone 11 will be available for preorders on September 13 at 8 am ET starting at just $699.
The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max
Many wondered how the future naming of iPhones would go after the iPhone XS and XS Max, and we now have our answer. Apple is taking aim at their power users with the Pro naming scheme, much like in the desktop computer lineup. The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max also are nearly identical to their predecessors except for the new rear camera design. Each has three lenses with one wide, ultra-wide and telephoto lens for a combined 4x optical zoom. The Pro models will also be receiving an impressive update for a computational photography feature they call Deep Fusion that stitches together nine total images to create one incredible high-quality image. The Pro models also receive an upgraded OLED panel which reaches 1,200 nits and a 2 million to 1 contrast ratio. The A13 Bionic will also be found in the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, providing more CPU and GPU power and better battery life than their predecessors. Face ID will also work at more angles on the 11 Pro and Pro Max, and each will ship with a faster 18W charger. The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max will be available for preorders September 13 at 8 am ET starting at $999 and $1,099 respectively. Both the iPhone XR and iPhone 8 and 8+ will remain available in Apple stores at reduced prices.
