You’ve probably heard the saying “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.” When you build a vehicle as successful as the Jeep Wrangler, it may be tempting to rest on your laurels, but Jeep is powering into the future with the introduction of the fourth generation Jeep Wrangler JL. At its core, the JL is everything you love about Jeep, but some changes on both the inside and outside make this generation a slam dunk.
Jeep Wrangler JL – What’s New?
Under the Hood
The Wrangler JK came with one engine option, a 3.6L Pentastar V6. A redesigned 3.6L V6 remains available on the new Wrangler JL featuring better gas mileage than the JK. Additionally, Jeep is launching a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine on all models and has announced an EcoDiesel V6 will join the lineup in 2019.
What’s a new generation of vehicles without some exterior refreshes? Of course it still looks like a Jeep Wrangler, but the JL got quite a facelift. Some of the highlights include new LED headlights, a heat extractor on the front fender, a slight increase in ride height, and a body-color sports bar with solid A-pillar supports. Put the Top Down
There’s nothing quite like riding in your Jeep with the top off on a hot summer day. Upgrades to both the hard top and the soft top make it a breeze to take the roof off of the new Wrangler JL. The biggest change is the exciting new powertop. This hassle-free top can be retracted with the push of a button at speeds up to 60 mph.
