Hi everybody! Welcome back to the season 2 finale of the ProClip Roundup. It’s the weekly news show where we give you the latest stories in mobile and car tech news! Here are this week’s stories:
Lyft Wants You to Ditch Your Car
The popular ridesharing provider, Lyft, will be paying 100 Chicago residents to ditch their cars for one month. The program will include credits for Lyft Carpool, a bike sharing program, a Zipcar credit, and a public transportation credit totaling $550. The goal is to prove to people living in big cities like Chicago that it is possible to live without cars. Lyft estimates that owning a car in a large city can cost more than $13,000 per year.
The RED Hydrogen One Phone Has a Release Date
The much-anticipated smartphone from the popular camera manufacturer RED finally has a release date. The founder of RED announced in a forum post that the phone will be released on November 2nd on AT&T and Verizon. We’re excited to see the phone in person to see their holographic screen and more!
Motorola Goes 5G
Motorola has announced a new device to be added to the MotoMod line. These snap-on phone accessories can be used to improve battery life, add a projector to your phone and now with the new Moto Z3, enable a 5G connection. While the next generation of network infrastructure will be drastically faster than 4G LTE, it isn’t actually here yet. Still, it’s exciting to see Motorola getting ready for the high speeds of the future!
Samsung Announces Galaxy Note 9
The Galaxy Note 9 has been announced by Samsung! The popular phone is getting lots of incremental upgrades, but also plenty of new features that should have Samsung fans pretty excited. The S-Pen now supports Bluetooth and can perform a variety of tasks within the phone, including opening the camera or taking a picture. Other upgrades include the camera, fingerprint sensor and a 4,000 mAh battery. The biggest feature is that the phone is available in a 512 GB model with the ability to add a 512 GB micro SD card allowing a fully terabyte of storage!
