Today, Apple finally announced the all-new iPhone SE, an affordable iPhone with a starting price tag at just $399 and a 4.7-inch display. If you’ve been holding onto an old iPhone because new ones are just too expensive or just too big, the iPhone SE is the new iPhone for you.
The Most Pocket Friendly iPhone in 2020
Phones keep getting bigger and bigger, but not everybody wants or needs a massive screen like the 6.9-inch Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. When Apple originally introduced the iPhone SE back in 2016, it was based on the iPhone 5S and had a 4-inch display. Now, in 2020, the iPhone SE is based off of the iPhone 8 with a bigger 4.7-inch display. It may not quite be the tiny iPhone that many were hoping for, but in a world full of giant phone screens, this is still a breath of fresh air.
Impressive Specs
The all-new iPhone SE may look exactly like an iPhone 8 from the outside, but inside you’ll find some seriously impressive specs. The base model comes with 64GB of storage and is available up to 256GB of storage. The processor is Apple’s latest A13 Bionic chip, which is the exact same chip you’ll find in the latest iPhone 11 Pro Max. The chip allows the 12-megapixel camera to combine multiple shots into a single photo with Apple’s Smart HDR. It also has portrait mode technology and can shoot 4K video at 60fps. It comes with support for Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit LTE and dual-SIMs via eSIM. Returning to the iPhone SE is Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint sensor, but lacks the facial ID of newer iPhones. It supports wireless charging and 18W fast charging, but you’ll need to purchase the fast charging adapter separately.
The Cheapest iPhone
Starting at just $399, the iPhone SE is the cheapest new phone that you can get from Apple. Preorders begin on April 17 and will be available in other retailers starting on April 24. While Apple retail stores do remain closed, the phone can be purchased online or through retailers like offering curbside pickup like Best Buy.
