Introducing the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX
What do you get when you drop the iconic Hellcat engine into a Ram truck with a beefed-up frame and suspension? Introduce yourself to the all-new Ram 1500 TRX. This off-road monster is taking on the Ford Raptor and it’s bringing along 702-horsepower and a $70,000 price tag. Production has officially begun in Sterling Heights, Michigan, with the first 702 trucks branded as special Launch Edition models. The Launch Edition models sold out in less than three hours, despite a $92,000 price tag.
High-Strength Steel Construction
The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has a brand-new frame that uses thicker high-strength steel than the standard Ram 1500. Ram claims that the truck holds up to jumping and rough terrain better than the competition, which in this case is only the Raptor. It comes with Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive shocks that continuously adjust to handle the terrain, but can also be controlled via terrain modes as well. The TRX has specially developed tires from Goodyear – a 35-inch all-terrain tire that is speed rated up to 118 mph. It has a ground clearance of 11.8-inches, an approach angle of 30.2 degrees, breakover angle of 21.9 degrees and departure angle of 23.5 degrees, as well as 13 inches of wheel travel.
A Hellcat Engine in a Ram Truck
Take a look under the hood, and the Hellcat engine is pumping out an absurd 702 horsepower and 650 lb/ft of torque. With launch control, the truck can go from 0-60 mph in an absurd 4.5 seconds. The TRX includes a new three-inch exhaust system that leads to five-inch exhaust tips that generates an exhaust note that could only come from a Hellcat. The Ram TRX boasts an 8,100 lb towing capacity and 1,310 lb payload capacity.
