Audi Unveils Tesla Competitor
Earlier this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Audi showed off its competitor to the Tesla Model S. The E-Tron GT will produce 590 horsepower and can achieve 0-62 mph in just 3.5 seconds. The battery supports 800-volt charging with a full range of 250 miles. The all-vegan interior includes synthetic leather, microfiber, and the carpeting is comprised of recycled fishing nets.
5G is Coming Soon
Qualcomm has announced a new processor called the Snapdragon 855. The Snapdragon 855 will likely be the processor found in the earliest 5G-enabled smartphones in the United States. Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 855 will support multi-gigabit download speeds and allow for improved AI, gaming and augmented reality. The Snapdragon 855 won’t be in the newest iPhones and it appears that Apple users may have to wait until 2020 for the first 5G iPhone.
A Self-Driving Taxi Service Launches
Residents of the Phoenix metropolitan area will soon be able to hail self-driving taxis from Waymo. The service will launch with safety drivers in each vehicle for the time being. Waymo is widely seen as the leader in self-driving taxi services. The company is backed by Google and has a significant head-start on its competitors in the space.
