How to Tailgate Like a Pro? We Made The Perfect List For You

To make the weekends a little easier for you, I created the ultimate list of tailgating must-haves.

Everyone’s favorite time of the year is right around the corner, and the last thing you want is to be unprepared for it. Summer is winding down, meaning football season is closing in, and I know one of my favorite things to do during the fall is grill, tailgate, and hang out with friends. To make the weekends a little easier for you, I created the ultimate list of tailgating must-haves.

One of my favorite items to have available on days like these is my ProClip. I have the Scosche Magic Mount Charge Elite in my F150, and it’s exactly what I need for gamedays. Whether it’s my nephew’s t-ball game, or an NFL football game, this mount makes the day go smoother. I never have to worry about my phone running out of battery in the car, or taking a wrong turn on the way there. With the Scosche Magic Mount, my phone stays charged, secured in its mount, and provides me easy access to check parking lot directions, stream the pre-game show, or order last-minute snacks—without fumbling around.

Tailgating success depends on proper equipment—transforming disorderly mornings into peaceful, enjoyable days. Before you leave with your cooler and team jersey check this list of essential tailgating items to prepare for any situation.

A ProClip will always be at the top of my list. It’s durable, affordable, and convenient for any situation. Since I’m always on the go, I need a phone mount that I can trust, and ProClip provides me just that.

  1. Speaker

Ranked #2 on my list would have to be a speaker. There’s nothing that kills the mood more than silence. Whether you have the music bumping, or just on for background noise, it can completely change the vibe of the atmosphere. For tailgating specifically, a pre-game playlist is my go-to. Music is the key to turning a tame environment into a good time.

Although this one seems obvious, it’s surprisingly easy to forget. Tailgating is supposed to be fun—but also relaxing. A break from reality if you will. Sitting around, enjoying food, drinks, and conversation with friends is almost always going to be the highlight of the day. However, the good times are a lot less comfortable when you realize you have nowhere to sit. You are stuck standing while everyone else settles in, and that’s when the fun starts feeling like a chore. Trust me, your back with thank you for packing foldable chairs.

  1. Cooler

A cooler should make everyone’s top 5 for tailgating must-haves. Staying hydrated is essential when tailgating, especially during the summer. There’s always water, Gatorade, and other refreshments that are being sold, but for an absurd price. Bringing your favorite drink can easily boost your mood, and create a relaxing, upbeat atmosphere at your tailgate.

  1. Jersey/Apparel

We all know how awkward it feels to not fit it—now imagine showing up to an NFL or MLB game without repping your team. Humiliating. This is an item that is crucial not to forget when attending an event and tailgate. No matter your gender, or how you style it, showing your team spirit is part of the experience. Whether you are into the jersey look, oversized hoodie, or a basic hat, team gear is a non-negotiable.

  1. Food

Bringing food and snacks to a tailgate goes hand-in-hand with staying hydrated. I did put this at #6 though, because everyone loves a good stadium hot dog or some nachos. Taking that into consideration, I don’t think we should rule out what snacks are perfect for tailgating. From chips and dip, to subs and sliders, you can’t go wrong with a tailgate meal before the big game.

  1. Games

Let’s face it—waiting for kickoff can drag. Games are the perfect way to keep the energy up and the time moving when tailgating. Cornhole, euchre, and ladders are some fun, kid-friendly games that keep the group entertained and in good spirits. If you want to add a twist, you can always create teams, and play to win a prize.
