OnePlus 3 Specs, Review and Car Phone Mounts

August 10, 2016 •

If you’ve been following OnePlus for the past two plus years, you’ve probably been just as impressed with their business model as you are with their smartphones. OnePlus’ tagline is Never Settle, and we can see why. Not only do they not settle on putting high-end technology into their devices, but they also don’t settle when it comes to providing consumers with affordable devices. With their newest flagship, the OnePlus 3, smartphone newbie OnePlus is consistent with providing users value.

OnePlus 3 Review

The OnePlus 3 is actually the fourth phone produced by OnePlus. This year’s model was released on July 26th and its features are impressive for its price. For just around $400, the OnePlus 3 offers high-end functionality and features for about half the price of its big league competitors, like Samsung and Apple.

So, how does the OnePlus 3 compare to its predecessor, the OnePlus 2? To start, the 3 is thinner, stronger and sexier than the 2 with its new, upgraded all metal aluminum body. The camera has also been upgraded to 16 MP from 13 MP. It even offers a high resolution 8 MP front-facing camera that can be used to take great selfies, even in low light.

The OnePlus 3 comes stocked with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, OnePlus has taken steps to customize the interface a bit. For example, you can now personalize the pull-down notification tray to display features in the order you want to see them. If you swipe left from the home screen, the OnePlus Shelf, a personal assistant-style feature, allows you to access your favorite apps, memos and more.

Another interesting product advancement that the OnePlus 3 brings to the table is 6 GB of RAM – no other phone currently offers this. Speaking of features that no other phone offers, OnePlus provides a dual nano-SIM card slot, and has been offering this feature since the brand started making phones. The dual SIM slot is a great feature for those who have two phones; one for work and one for personal use. With two cards, there is no need to carry around two separate devices.

With the release of the OnePlus 3 also comes the release of OnePlus’ proprietary quick charging system called Dash. OnePlus claims that you can charge your phone from zero to sixty percent in just thirty minutes. The 3 has also adopted useful features that have come standard on competitor phones for awhile now, such as NFC and fingerprint scanner. While late to the game, we are glad we can say, “better late than never.” Check out our full video review of the OnePlus 3:
