The open road, the rumble of the engine and the sun beating down on you. The feeling of cruising on a motorcycle is pure freedom. However, the demographic of motorcyclists is not getting any younger. Motorcycle manufacturers like Harley-Davidson are faced with making their brand attractive to Millennials and younger generations. Enter the all-electric Harley-Davidson that could change the future of the motorcycle industry.

LiveWire Electric Motorcycle

Harley-Davidson unveiled the LiveWire, their first electric motorcycle prototype in 2014 as an attempt to reach a new demographic. The bike received positive reviews with test-runs, achieving 0-60 seconds in under four seconds, but was severely lacking with a limited range of just 55 miles on a single charge. Electric vehicle technology has come a long way since 2014. With automakers like Tesla charging toward the future, the issues with range should be an issue of the past.

Harley-Davidson Anniversary

The historic motorcycle manufacturer will be celebrating its 115th anniversary during Labor Day weekend in 2018 at their headquarters in Milwaukee, WI. While they celebrate the success of their past, they also will begin to roll towards the future as production of the all-electric motorcycle is slated to begin in 2019. While full specifications of their electric motorcycle are not yet available, we expect them to build on the success of the LiveWire while fine-tuning the details to make progressive motorcycle fans ecstatic.
