2019 Ford Ranger

SUVs are all the rage, but the mid-size pickup truck is gaining ground. Few things compare to the old-fashioned ruggedness of a pickup. Between their toughness and adaptability, they’ve become a cornerstone of modern American driving.

We’d like to highlight the all-new Ford Ranger, the Chevy Colorado and the Toyota Tacoma as this year’s big-hitters. The 2019 Ford Ranger has just been announced for an MSRP of just over $25k, to be released sometime in early 2019. Is the new Ranger the best pick for your ProClip mount, though? Let’s take a gander.

Exploring the 2019 Ford Ranger

The 2019 Ranger will be outfitted with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost, turbo-four engine. It’ll also be backed by a 10-speed automatic, and we’re expecting more powertrain options down the road. Offering optional driver assist safety packages, the Ranger will bring a lot to the table—especially at its FX4 trim level.

Exploring the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Ranked as the third-best Compact Pickup Truck in the U.S. News & World Report, the 2019 Colorado can be picked up at a $20,000 starting price. You’ll have to pay a bit more at higher trims, however: The Z71 and ZR2 feature off-road upgrades which puts them between $30,000 and $40,000.

Exploring the 2019 Toyota Tacoma

The 2019 Toyota Tacoma offers a bit less of an evolution from its previous models. While it’s similar to its 2018 version, it still offers some styling upgrades between its 4Runner TRD Pro and Tundra versions. It also features an anti-lock brake system, traction control and brake-force distribution within its intuitive Star Safety System. Its starting price is $41,520.

The Best Option for your ProClip Mount

So, what’s the verdict? We feel the 2019 Ford Ranger—while still a few months away—might be your best ProClip buddy. The 2019 Toyota Tacoma is a great, but its stylistic upgrades may not be enough for true road warriors seeking a refreshing take on outback driving.

The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado, meanwhile, is a great option for economical drivers. Still, the 2019 Ford Ranger packs a punch due to its EcoBoost. The Ranger’s various packages also offer some nice customizability—which is the perfect partner to ProClip.
