6 Ways to Increase Android Battery Life
Android phones continue to get more and better features. But, the power of these robust models often comes at the expense of battery life. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to make your phone’s juice go a little farther:
Check Your Power Saving Mode
If your phone has the option, switch to Extreme or Ultra Power Saving. These can allow you to squeeze several hours of extra life out of your phone’s battery.
Kill Background Apps
In the Apps area, you’ll see a list of all of the apps that are currently running. Stop any that you don’t need to have running in the background to conserve your battery.
Update Your Apps
Often, applications are updated to use less battery power. Periodically check to see if you are using the latest version of each app. Many require manual updates.
Switch Apps to Manual Refresh
Facebook, email and many other applications automatically refresh every so often to bring you the latest posts. Switch to less frequent polling or to manual refreshing to cut down on battery use. After seeing how much of a difference this makes, pick just the most important apps to refresh automatically.
Turn Down Your Screen Brightness
Making your screen less bright means that it will use less power. You should also turn off your phone’s Automatic Brightness feature. When you are using reading apps on your phone, switch to nighttime mode. Because it uses a black screen instead of a light-colored one, it will use significantly less power.
Consider a Bigger Battery
If all else fails, look for a battery case or an extended battery for your mobile phone. Many Android models have bigger batteries available from a range of manufacturers. Often, these can double your phone’s battery life.
