5 Tips for Getting More Out of Your New iPhone 7
The iPhone is known for its intuitive, user-friendly interface. In fact, many people don’t bother to stop and read the manual when they unbox the device because they are so eager to begin trying their new phone. While the device is a leader in operational simplicity, Apple has included a rich set of features and options that you can benefit from. The more you know about these capabilities, the better your user experience will be. With that in mind, here are five tips for getting more out of your new iPhone 7.

1. Raise to Wake

The iPhone 7, running iOS 10, lets you quickly unlock the screen by touching the Touch ID sensor. If this requirement annoys you when you just want to do something like check the time, enable the Raise to Wake option. Select “Settings,” then tap “Display and Brightness.” Toggle the “Raise to Wake” option to “On.” Now the home screen will appear whenever you lift your iPhone 7.

2. Switching to Camera from Lock Screen

Are you accustomed to swiping on the camera icon whenever you want to take a quick picture with your previous model iPhone? This capability is gone in iOS 10, noted Digital Trends. Instead, now you swipe the lock screen to the left to access the camera as quickly as with the previous iPhone model and its operating system.

3. New Way to Force Device to Reset

When your iPhone is acting strangely, a good course to take is a device reset. With previous models, you would press the “Home” button and the “Sleep/Wake” button simultaneously. With the iPhone 7, you do it slightly differently. Hold the “Power” button (right side) and the “Volume Down” button at the same time, pressing until the iPhone 7 resets.

4. Adjust the Feel of the New Home Button

If you don’t like the feel of the new “Home” button, there is no need to fret. It’s no longer a physical button, but Apple’s engineers designed it to respond like a real button just the same. In Settings, tap “General” and then select “Home Button.” Choose from one of the three clicking options to fine-tune your own artificial home button click.

5. Better Sleep with Bedtime Mode

Previous versions of the iPhone came with alarms you can set, such as to wake up at the same time every day. In the iPhone 7, you can take advantage of a new feature that may help you get better sleep. Use the new Bedtime mode to set how many hours of sleep you want each day as well as a wake up time. Your iPhone will calculate what time to remind you to get ready for bed in order to get the full amount of sleep time you allotted.

Customizing your iPhone 7 with these various settings will improve your overall experience with the device, from the first time you lift the phone in the morning to later in the evening when it reminds you when it’s time to start getting ready to bed.
